A Second Sunset

The pale indigo clouds

Drift on by

Masking a sun

That dips to hide

Its blazingly bright rays

In its yellow and orange hues

Golden at the center

The center of my muse

It casts its warm glow

Upon all of us

Backlit

By a sun that welcomes us

It peers onto us all,

Drawing up a smile

When hidden by the earth

Each rising crest and sigh

Each valley and mountain

That rises up on high

The wind and water that casts grooves

Through the soil

The hard packed earth

Hardset by stone

It’s the epicenter of the world

Heliocentric, dear

The gray of the clouds

A musky, musty sky

Clear

Adorned by the clouds

That reside up on high

That enchant our lovely misted skies

Peach, orange fuzz

Gazing upon the yellow

The mellow shades that rise and peak

Upon every fellow

The dip and wane of every single absence of color

Splattered bluish-grey

All over

Coolly lit by blue

Blazing reds of fire

Green of all shades

Gracing every tree

Spring has come dear

And you belong with me

Like a leaf on a branch

Like the sun and the moon

We’re two partners dear

Bonded under a monsoon

The rainbow that gleams

like glittering starry night

The white doves that raise their wings

And take flight

We are what we know

We are what we do

Your spirit breathes

To live inside of you

Remember how much you love sunsets? The pinks and the oranges and the yellows and blues. And how they all bleed, every single hue. They awaken the sky with flashes of color, light, alive, they take flight. They color your gray, dark, stormy skies. The world is so much more than just black and white.
