Dear Reader

Dear reader

If you’re reading this

Know who I am

Know what you’ve missed

My name was once a word you could know

But time alone caused you to go

Perhaps you’d be with me longer

Perhaps absence makes the heart grow fonder

Perhaps I’ve lived in ignorant bliss

Perhaps there is more to all of this

Perhaps I live in woven lies

Perhaps I hide behind peering eyes

Perhaps I know nothing

Perhaps I am lost

Perhaps everything I’ve done

Was just the cost

(Inspired by Taylor Swift's song "Dear Reader," off the album "Midnights")

I wrote these 2 poems at the end of June when I wrote my end of year appreciation to my Lit teacher Mrs. Greer.
