"Solitude" 2.0

Laugh and they all forsake you

Cry and hold on to the pain

And every part of me breaks

As I watch you leave on that train

Because I am all or nothing

I grieve and mourn, despair

For there is no mirth living

In my lungs’ clouded air

Fog that is thick and many

One and then there’s two

And we all frown as we drown

And are born anew

Laugh and they all forsake you

Live and you die alone

For life is heavy when it is plenty

And we drown atop the thrones

We think that we are happy

That there is no such thing as despair

But only do we truly realize

When there is everything but air

Vague, I know, but it’s true

But every time the meaning changes

As the spindle rearranges

Spooling out its yarn to come

And my mouth froths, to and from

And when we all wish for solace

We die and we die alone

For there is no such thing as heaven

Just an empty throne

I wrote these 2 poems at the end of June when I wrote my end of year appreciation to my Lit teacher Mrs. Greer.
