Sorrows

Sorrows exist

As reminders

Binding us to reality

For sorrows don’t exist

for only torment

They desire to set us free

One change, one choice, one step we make

To each challenge our lives face

Is the difference between success and loss

When faced by daunting costs

We can choose to act on sight

Or heart or mind

But the worst sorrows of all

Are when we fail to take action of any kind

We are haunted by ghosts of regret

Shame clings to us, like debt

For we can never wash away

The things we failed to do that day

We live forever, mind on loop

Of all the hoops we jumped through

The day we failed, we failed to fly

To choose a path amongst endless skies
